Spilled Cheerios

It was a ridiculously hot day in April !!!

Oh why did we not have a pool put in this past winter...  When it hit 115 last June I knew it had to be done, but nooooo..., I just kept chugging along through the rest of the summer thinking that kind of heat was a fluke, not something we would likely deal with again for a while... WRONG!!!!  Today, on April 25, which is still Spring, I almost melted into a pool of MOM.  I'm not sure what the official temperature was, but it was "burn your bottom HOT!" Those of you with ventilated seats are so lucky..., I have already called my dealer to price new suburbans!  In my car, at 5:48 p.m., (which was not parked in the sun by the way) the external temp reached 114 degrees!  I watched it climb throughout the day from 94 all the way up to 114. Is this a sign of the apocalypse? (I'm slightly scared.)  

My picture of 114 is really blurry, so here's the shot at 113. It's hard to snap a shot while driving. Now, be assured I was not texting and driving - I don't do that!  But shooting and driving, well that I'm guilty of.  Just please don't look at how terribly bad I need a manicure!

While getting ready for school this morning or over breakfast maybe, not sure...  Abby yells out sorta randomly, "Don't be an optimist!!!"

Hmmmm..., of course we all looked at her like she was indeed the insane person that we figured her to be.  However, I do realize that she meant to say "Don't be a pessimist" and just got the two confused.  But if you knew Abby on school mornings, and please beleive me when I tell you she is a completely different person - her original comment was truer to form.  But we still love her and she loves us, as long as she's not late for school. 

The Lamborghini...

This was Saturday at Uncle Nerrel's and Aunt Sybil's place in Lipan, Texas.  My little girls can truthfully say they have ridden inside a Lamborghini!  I do beleive that the rest of our family cannot make that claim...  And not just any Lamborghini, a seriously souped up Lamborghini!  Because, hey... the 550 horsepower that came with the car just wasn't good enough... This one has 1200 horsepower! This is an awesome machine of a car! Scott, dude..., you're amazing!!! And hey, I concur..., if you're gonna do it, might as well do it right! Thanks for letting my girls go for a ride.  (I hope they wore their riding helmets...)

QUOTE OF THE DAY...

 

I may not be able to post as many pictures as I'd like. But, I'm going to try to start posting the  "quote of the day". It's something we've done in our family for many years, because there's always something said that is above and beyond the typical, yet hilarious and exceptional comments made in our home. 

We'll start with this :

On the way to school Monday morning, Joel was commenting about his research on a JFK paper he had recently done, and how he feels he may be a Democrat. Well, that alone is hysterical - however, after I informed him he was born into the wrong family to be a Democrat, Abby yells out for the world to hear "Ooohh, JFK - I love their fried chicken!!!" So therefore, my first "Quote of the Day" on Spilled Cheerios is indeed "Ooohh, JFK - I love their fried chicken!!!" - courtesy of Abby Lou. 

Maybe I can start doing a picture of the day as well, who knows - with this many kids and iPhones in our house I guarantee you there are definitely some pictures worthy of posting...

 

It's Kate's Birthday!!! YIPPEEE!!!

It's my baby's birthday today...  I'm not sure whether to jump for joy and celebrate with her or to hide in a closet and cry... I think I'll choose the former and enjoy the moment - although it still hurts watching my "caboose" as Kyle puts it, grow up...  Here are some pictures from the day...

FIFTY'S DAY

It was Fifity's Day at Austin Elementary School today, so we expectantly dressed accordingly...  Here are some pictures and video of the fun-filled day!

NO SNOW.... :(

For the second time in a month the prediction of snow has fizzled out...  I'm sorry to say, but that is just not fair!  I love the snow!  Woke up on Tuesday morning and nothing!  Absolutley nothing!  Midland, on the other hand, got a record-breaking 10.5 inches of snow.  I think we saw some of Kyle's tennis competitors on the news building their 7 foot snowman...! (Jerks!)  Oh well, next time right? 

I wanted to post this video for my dear husband. He left this afternoon to drive to Bryan to see his dad.  Doug had surgery earlier this afternoon and is doing well, but Steven wanted to be there to make sure all was well.  I know as he was driving this evening he was going through things in his head about what needs to be done, and I know for a fact that he was thinking "I sure hope Jodie remembers to have the boys take out the trash before tommorrow!"  Well babe, this one's for you!

 

 

Will it snow tonight?

It has rained since about 2 am,  2 kids have been in my room on my couch for sometime now.  I've heard them whispering for quite a while...  Granted, there is thunder and lightning, but I just laid in my bed and listened to the little whisper whisper conversation going on about how we shouldn't wake mom yet, and how let's not be too scared yet - it could get worse...  So unbelievably cute!  Well, we did get quite a bit of rain, and they say it's supposed to snow tonight.  6 out of 7 Brown's agree that would be so awesome!  (Steven has to go to work and save lives, so he's not in the same simpleminded boat as the rest of us...) 

So, on the way to school this Monday morning, which please keep in mind that Mondays are hard for all, including the Brown family.  It has been raining pretty heavily all night, and it's cold!  We're already running behind and we finally get all 6 of us out the door, and of course Abby is totally freaking out!  She cannot be late to anything!!! She may look like me, but where she got that little tidbit of a gene is completely unknown, I'm perfectly ok with being a little late here and there...  Regardless, we begin our 4 minute commute to Austin Elementary School with Abby in complete distress, and the car pool lane is 15 billion times longer than it normally is!  On my!!!  As she is watching the clock on the dash of my car, I'm secretly wishing that I still drove an older car with an actual "clock" that she wouldn't take the time nor the effort to figure out, because she won't be quiet!  "We only have 2 minutes MOM!!!", "MOM, we only have 1 minute now - HURRY MOM,  HURRY!!!", "Mom, the bell is going to ring any minute now, OH MY GOSH MOM, THE BELL IS RINGING!!!  I'm gonna be tardy!!! MMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME????!!!"  What fun mornings are...  Well, it definitely gets better, because the funniest part of my day (and let me tell you, my days can be quite hysterical!) was when she was rushing out of the car and jumping over the river of rain, (since we all know Abilene isn't equipped to hande all-night rainfalls...), and all of the sudden we hear "MOM!  My lunchbox is floating away!!!"  And as I look into my side mirror I see that very lunchbox floating down that very same river of rain...  Of course I couldn't stop laughing long enough to yell back "than go get your lunchbox you dingbat!!!", except - I think maybe I did, because when she walked past me with the drenched lunchbox she gave me a rather evil look.  Did it stop my fit of hysteria?  Not in the least...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

If 4 out of 7 Brown family members can give up all carbonated beverages for their New Year's resolution (Lord no, I'm definitely not one of them!), then by golly - I can at least blog about it!  Hope encouraged me, I will  admit..., - though it probably has something to do with the lack of caffeine and sugar her skinny little body is trying to adjust to... "Post a few pictures" may be a more accurate description, rather than "blogging".  But hey, progress is progress!  I did update my credit card information on TypePad, and I am indeed posting in the here and now.  Thank you, thank you..., you're quite welcome..., your comments are all so kind...  I know you've been on the edge of your seats awaiting my written word since last February. (sorry about that!)   However, you should really find some other activities to amuse yourself with, because I'm notoriously undependable!  Haven't you heard?

The Brown Family wishes all of you a Very Merry Christmas and an Exceptional New Year!  We are so blessed for all that we have, and we thank Christ Almighty every single day for the blessings we have been given.  We pray that you and your family are relishing in the New Year as well, and that 2012 brings prosperous and happy times for your family.

Many of you probably remember my Granny's cinnamon rolls.  Yes, I know - they were undoubtedly the best cinnamon rolls ever!  We miss her and her cinnamon rolls tremendously.  I have wanted so desperately to attempt in making these cinnamon rolls for so long now, but I have been utterly fearful of dissapointment.  Well, Christmas morning I figured, what the heck!  So I did, and they rocked!  I was so excited and proud of myself, and they were oh so yummy!  Don't they look delicious?  Mmmm... mmmmmm... gooooey goodness!
